Karan Casey and Pauline Scanlon (Fair Plé) – Gender Equality in Irish Music

FairPlé is a new initiative which aims to achieve gender balance in the production, performance, promotion, and development of Irish traditional and folk music. It advocates for equal opportunity and balanced representation for all.

Karan Casey has appeared on more than fifty albums and has toured constantly throughout North America, Europe and Japan, performing solo, with her own band and with many other diverse artists.

Pauline Scanlon, vocalist and songwriter is deeply immersed in the tradition yet completely aware of the edgier developments within the folk and world music realm, Scanlon is capable of making the oldest ballads sound immediate and fresh while granting newer material a timeless resonance.
