The Royal College of Music is one of Britain’s leading conservatoires. It provides specialised musical education and professional training at the highest international level for performers and composers.

Founded in 1967, RCM Studios is the RCM’s digital production unit, recognised internationally for its expertise in the use of digital technology in classical music performance, teaching, rehearsal and research. The studios provide a wide range of audio, video and music technology facilities and services to students, staff and external clients.

The RCM is about to embark on a £25m transformation project, ‘More Music’ which will create several new, high specification performance spaces including a new studio complex, due to open in 2018. We are therefore expanding our studio team in order to take advantage of the new opportunities this project will create.

RCM Studios is seeking a skilled videographer with a broad range of creative, technical and musical skills. You will have prior experience of shooting, editing and delivering finished video content to professional standards. You will be equally confident working with classical musicians to achieve the best possible film of their performance, or advising technical colleagues about lighting techniques and file-based workflows.

You will have a degree level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as film and TV production or video engineering. Musical understanding is also critical to this role, including excellent score reading abilities, along with strong audio skills so you can undertake simple performance filming and editing on your own.

Support and training will be available to develop advanced music recording skills alongside the video aspects of the role, if desired.

Potential candidates are welcome to get in touch with the Head of Studios, Matt Parkin, for any questions or clarifications about this position by emailingstudio [at] rcm.ac.uk.

Please note this is a re-advertisement and previous applicants need not re-apply.

CVs without an application form will not be accepted.
