Christ Church Cathedral Dublin is delighted to present An Evening with Rónán Ó Snodaigh and Friends, featuring one of Ireland’s most prolific musicians and founding member of renowned Irish folk-rock gods, Kíla.

Announced as one of the highlights of National Heritage Week, 2013, this eagerly awaited event will feature Ó Snodaigh joining forces with a band of top class Irish musicians, for an evening of superb traditional, folk-rock and world music. Described by one critic as ‘the living embodiment of Turlough O Carolan and Bob Marley’, and by fans as ‘The Jimi Hendrix of Bodhrán’, Rónán Ó Snodaigh is recognized as one of Ireland’s best and most innovative bodhrán players and percussionists and a highly original singer-songwriter. His songs are lyrically beautiful with a unique edginess falling somewhere between folk and rock.

As well as songs from his existing repertoire, the evening will feature new songs from Rónán’s forthcoming album Sos (meaning break) which will be released this autumn. Recorded with Dublin-based Californian musician/DJ/producer Pete Rotulo, the album criss crosses the musicial territories of pop, funk, folk and rock to arrive at seven upbeat contemporary songs in Irish. It features Rónán on vocals, bodhran and guitar, Pete on guitar, Nick Seymor (crowded house) on bass and sees the return of the Duck Back band members Liam Ó Maonlaí and Conor Murray on drum-kit. Some of this band will join Rónán on the night. He is looking forward to playing in one of Dublin’s best known landmarks and bringing a lively mix of Irish traditional, contemporary and folk music to its turrets!

Tickets go on general release on Thursday 8 August, cost €25 per person and are available from http://entertainment.ticketsolve.com/shows/873501127/events or by calling 01 677 8099.
