Prepare to be enchanted by the extraordinary Céline Moinet, “…one of the finest oboists in the world” [International Record Review], in Music Network's very special end of year concert on Saturday 2nd December at The Pillar Room, Rotunda Hospital, Dublin 1. Performing with acclaimed pianist Florian Uhlig, the programme includes chamber music by Robert Schumann, Carl Nielsen, Clara Schumann and Antonio Pasculli as well as a piece by Irish composer James Wilson.

Expect a fearless performance executed with technical aplomb and sublime virtuosity from this stunning duo in the wonderful surrounds of the Rotunda Hospital’s Pillar Room. Dublin audiences have the opportunity to hear them perform repertoire from Moinet’s recently released CD with Berlin Classics, ‘Schumann Romances’ in advance of their BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert at Wigmore Hall on Monday 4th December.

For the past ten years, Céline Moinet has been one of the most exceptional performing artists on her instrument. The young oboist’s concerts bring both audiences and critics alike to rapturous applause. In demand as a soloist with major orchestras all over the world, she has played at the Salzburg Easter Festival under Christoph Eschenbach, with the Staatskapelle Dresden, at the Pacific Music Festival under Fabio Luisi and with the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra in Suntory Hall. She also regularly tours as a soloist with the Dresden Kapellsolisten and the Kammerorchester Basel. Céline is principal oboe of Dresden Staatskapelle, a position she has held since 2008.

Florian Uhlig made his orchestral debut at the Barbican in London in 1997 and since then he has performed worldwide with leading orchestras. In addition to his solo projects, Florian is much in demand as a chamber musician and lieder pianist - he was the last partner of the legendary baritone Hermann Prey. In 2009, Florian Uhlig founded the Johannesburg International Mozart Festival in South Africa. As Artistic Director, he has guided the fortunes of the two-week music festival, which presents symphony and choral concerts as well as chamber and solo recitals featuring top-class ensembles and artists. Additionally the festival highlights the importance of interdisciplinary projects, contemporary music, the promotion of young artists and social integration.
