Lecturer in Music
The University of Salford is currently seeking a suitable candidate to fill a fractional (0.6) lectureship position, with proven expertise in the following areas; Classical Performance, Conducting and Ensemble Development. Additional experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable but none-essential; Arts Administration, Musicology, Postgraduate Performance Supervision.
The candidate will be required to teach, develop and co-ordinate modules in these areas of specialism, supporting the diverse interests of our students enrolled on the Musical Arts programme, which focuses, but is not restricted to, band-musicianship performance and training. The successful candidate will undertake directorship of our highly respected brass band and symphonic wind ensemble as well as offering academic support towards the big band, choir and small ensembles programme.
All staff within the directorate contribute to programme development, the student admissions process and undertake responsibilities of pastoral care. Preferably, the candidate should have experience teaching within Higher Education and be industry active in their chosen field with an international reputation.
Role Purpose:
To prepare, develop and deliver high-quality teaching materials across performance, conducting and ensemble modules for all years of undergraduate study. To contribute to the planning, design and development of programme content and vision. To engage in scholarly activity, fully support the diverse range of student performance interests and specialisms and undertake high quality research.
