Music Current: Vox Electronica

Music Current: Vox Electronica

Thursday, 27 April 2017, 8.00pm

Vox Electronica features soprano Elizabeth Hilliard & Fergal Dowling performing Kaija Saariaho’s ‘Lonh’, a seminal work for solo soprano and electronics, along with two more recent works by festival composer Christopher Fox: ‘Sea to the west’ & ‘Catalogue irraisoné’.

‘Sea to the west’ was recently released on CD on the Metier label, and Fox’s encyclopaedic ‘Catalogue irraisoné’ , forms a stunning concert-length meditation on language and the fragility of communication.

Elizabeth Hilliard is a pioneer and champion of Irish contemporary music. She is renowned for her exceptional musicianship and creative prowess and the emotional intensity she brings to her performances.

Fergal Dowling is a composer, computer musician and ensemble director. An active performer of computer music, he co-founded Dublin Sound Lab (2008), and has collaborated with many Irish and international composers and performers, including Karlheinz Essl, Garth Knox and Peter Ablinger.

This concert opens MUSIC CURRENT 2017, a three-day festival of contemporary electronic music. More details at www.musiccurrent.ie.
