An opportunity has arisen within the Education team for an experienced, well-motivated project manager to work full time within Opera North to create and manage Education orchestral programmes for children, young people and adults across the north of England.

This role will involve the creation and management of a range of orchestral project within Opera North Education, including the ON Orchestra Academy for advanced young musicians aged 14-19.  

Key responsibilities:
  • Devise, plan and manage specified orchestral activity and projects within Opera North Education, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest possible standards to enable the strongest possible outcomes for participants.
  • Manage and coordinate artists, participants and other stakeholders where relevant; troubleshoot practical issues as and when they arise and work with artists to keep projects on track with agreed aims and objectives.
  • Support the Education Director to evaluate and develop the department’s strategy and programme of work, as and when required.  
  • Create and manage relevant project budgets. 
  • Compile written project documentation and compile reports where required. 
  • Articulate project outcomes and collate project evaluation data as required.
  • Provide efficient support at relevant Education programme workshops and events.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with all relevant stakeholders, internal and external, including schools, teachers, participants, partners and the players and management team of the Orchestra of Opera North, ensuring that Opera North is represented positively at all times.
