It was while appearing in the 1988 Kilkenny Arts Festival that viola da gamba master Jordi Savall encountered Irish traditional music for the first time.

Since then Savall has cemented his reputation as an artistic polymath and champion of early music in all its forms, while remaining captivated by Celtic musical traditions.

For this opening concert in the 2015 Marble City Sessions, Savall joins series host Martin Hayes and fellow artist in residence Dennis Cahill to bring their collaboration to a new stage, further exploring the lost connections between the courtly elegance of early music and the old melodies of the Irish tradition. Featuring regular Savall collaborators Frank McGuire on bodhrán and Andrew Lawrence-King on harp, Celtic Dialogues promises to be an encounter to remember between legendary musicians.
