Orchestral Conducting Competition

Open to Irish competitors (or those resident in Ireland since at least January 2016) aged 18-35 years. Competitors must complete the additional online entry form when entering for this competition. Shortlisting on the basis of information submitted may apply in the event of large numbers of entries.

Round 1: Competitors to choose a work from the worklist, the orchestral reduction of which will be performed on two pianos

Round 2 (Final): A maximum of three finalists will be selected to conduct the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. 

1st Prize: Trophy, presented by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, and a lunchtime concert with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in the National Concert Hall. There will also be an ‘orchestra prize’, voted for by the orchestra members, the winner of which will be awarded the Crimmins Conducting Bursary of €500, presented by Séamus Crimmins. (NB the orchestra prize winner may or may not also be the 1st prize winner).
