Principal Flute (Cover/Deputy)
Dave Flynn’s Irish Memory Orchestra are seeking an exceptional flautist to be the first deputy to our principal flautists Aisling Agnew and Eimear McGeown on an ongoing basis.
The successful applicant will first be hired to deputise for Aisling Agnew for our upcoming concerts in Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin and Galway as part of our apprentice scheme on Nov 3rd and 4th. Musicians must be available for rehearsals in Athenry on Nov 1st and 2nd also.The Flute Deputy Job is a freelance professional performance opportunity, it is not related to our auditions for the Apprentice Scheme. Musicians will be paid in line with orchestral rates and will receive travel expenses and accommodation. Repertoire includes the World Premiere of Dave Flynn’s Memory Symphony and music composed by our special guest Mairtín O’Connor in orchestrations by Dave Flynn.Ideal candidates will be professional musicians of outstanding ability with orchestral experience. They would ideally be equally good at classical and traditional Irish flute along with tin whistle, as well as being excellent teachers. N.B. The Irish Memory Orchestra performs from memory, so you must be willing and able to memorise the music.
