The Arts Council, through the 2015 Festivals and Events Scheme, has allocated €391,960 to festivals and events categorised as Music, Opera or Traditional Arts. 

Festivals that were successful include the Cork Folk Festival, Patrick O’Keeffe Traditional Music Festival, Scoil Acla, New Ross Piano Festival, Music for Kilkenny, Guitar Festival of Ireland, and Lismore Music Festival.

The annual scheme has two rounds and is open to all types of events, including concert series.

In total, €194,258 was allocated to 44 Traditional Arts events (an average of €4,415 per event), €187,202 was allocated to 27 Music events (an average of €6,933 per event) and €10,500 was allocated to one Opera festival. 

€198,565 was awarded to 27 multi-disciplinary festivals (an average of €7,354 per festival), which can include music. There was also awards made to literature, theatre, film, street arts, and visual arts events. 

Applications are now open for next year. The Arts Council is seeking submissions from festivals and events taking place in the first half of 2016.

Up to €20,000 is available for organisations that have received funding under the scheme before. A maxiumum of €10,000 is available to events that have not applied before. The most received by a music event this year was €12,500 for the 36th Cork Folk Festival.
