The Dublin choir Cantóiri is hosting an open rehearsal at Áras Treasa, Coppinger Row, Dublin 2, from 4pm to 5pm on Saturday, 13 October. Titled ‘Singing is Good for Your Mental Health’, the event is aimed at people who have never sung in choirs before, or who would like an insight into how the choir works.

Participants in the open rehearsal will do ‘vocal gymnastics’ with the choir, as well as sing songs with the choir. Cantóiri will also perform some of its repetoire, which focuses on folk music from around the globe, always sung in the original language.

The choir, whose musical director is Ben Barnes, previously took part in the RTÉ television series An Cór, and, in addition to concerts, has taken part in festivals such as the Cork Choral Festival and the Sligo Choral Festival.
