MTU Cork School of Music are accepting applications for the position of Head of Department – Pop, Jazz, Trad, Voice & Theatre Studies.

MTU Cork School of Music (CSM), founded in 1878, is the oldest and largest conservatoire of music and drama in Ireland, with over 450 full-time students on its performing arts degree courses, and a further 3,000 enrolments undertaking part-time conservatoire study. CSM is the leading conservatoire for music and drama in Ireland, and prides itself on the holistic nature of its music and drama education, delivering career-focused programmes and equipping students with the skills required for success in the music and theatre industry. CSM is situated in the heart of Cork City centre, close to all the major arts venues and hosts approximately 500 performing events annually. The purpose- built and state-of-the-art building features a 385-seat concert hall, 110 seat theatre, 52 teaching and
practice studios, a full recording studio and suite, 60 Steinway grand pianos, 2 Junior Classrooms, 2 Piano Labs, lecture theatres, 2 audio labs, an IT lab, and the Off-Quay Bistro.

Offering a full range of courses from Conservatoire provision to undergraduate degrees, Masters and PhD, the School comprises four departments:
- The Department of Keyboard Studies
- The Department of Musicianship & Academic Studies
- The Department of Orchestral Studies
- The Department of Pop, Jazz, Trad, Voice & Theatre Studies

The Department of Pop, Jazz, Trad, Voice & Theatre Studies is home to more than 300 fulltime undergraduate and Masters students studying under 5 distinct programmes. These include BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre, BA (Hons) in Theatre & Drama Studies, BA (Hons) in Popular Music, Bachelor of Music (Hons) and MA in Performance. The department is also responsible for the Conservatoire provision of Classical Singing and Drama.

The Head of Department will report to the Head of School of the MTU Cork School of Music and will be located on Union Quay, Cork. The appointee will be responsible for the efficient and effective management and control of the Department, and for its development in accordance with University policy and plans.
