Mary Ryan Blues Trio

Gospel blues singer Mary Ryan, roots blues singer and guitarist Mark Braidner, and ragtime pianist Simon Templeton have come together as the Mary Ryan Blues Trio and recorded a range of gospel blues, delta blues and vaudeville numbers from the 1920s era onwards.

Gospel blues singer Mary Ryan, roots blues singer and guitarist Mark Braidner, and ragtime pianist Simon Templeton have come together as the Mary Ryan Blues Trio and recorded a range of gospel blues, delta blues and vaudeville numbers from the 1920s era onwards, including the old time blues of Mississippi John Hurt, ragtime songs of Blind Willie McTell and classic blues of Memphis Minnie, as well as Irish songs that crossed the Atlantic.

They have just released their new album ‘Trimmed & Burning’ which includes songs of the freight-train hopping singers who travelled from Beale Street to New Orleans: God Moves On The Water, The Dying Crapshooters Blues, KeepYour Lamps Trimmed and Burning, The Viper Song, Denomination Blues, Aint Nothing In Rambling, Miss Jennie’s Ball, Me And My Chauffeur, Trying To Make Heaven My Home, Baby It Must Be Love, Why Don’t You Do Right.

The trio are launching the new album this Friday, 10 August at An Chultúrlann, 216 Falls Road, Belfast at 8pm. Tickets cost £5.
