Community Engagement Manager
The Philharmonia Orchestra, based at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London, is seeking to appoint a Community Engagement Manager. This role is pivotal in managing, delivering, and developing a variety of projects and programmes aimed at providing social impact to communities in the Orchestra’s main UK residencies, including Bedford, Leicester, Canterbury, and Basingstoke. Projects such as Hear and Now, Bullfrog Orchestra, Symphonize, and The Guest List fall within the remit of this position, alongside the development of projects in partnership with residency Community Boards.
Responsibilities of the Community Engagement Manager will include managing programme delivery, budget creation and monitoring, the production of marketing materials, ensuring participant engagement in community projects, and integrating programmes with the artistic planning of the Orchestra. The successful candidate will also lead on the operation and monitoring of the Community Boards and support efforts to secure sponsorship and funding.
Applicants should have significant experience in managing or leading community-based arts programmes, direct experience working within community settings, an understanding of the arts sector, and experience working with diverse communities and professional musicians. The role requires proactive engagement with external partners, project participants, and across Philharmonia Orchestra departments.
