The Journal of Music is an online publication dedicated to in-depth writing on music in Ireland. We cover a wide range of genres, including contemporary, classical, traditional, folk, opera and more. Explore our reviews, articles and news sections, and visit our listings platform for events and career opportunities. In 2024, we began publishing books under the Boluisce Press imprint.
Founded in 2000 by Toner Quinn, The Journal of Music began as a bimonthly print magazine and received the Utne Independent Press Award for Arts Coverage in 2010. In November 2025, the publication will mark 25 years of music journalism.
The Journal of Music is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland/An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
