Riot Ensemble’s 2024 Call for Scores invites two composers to debut with the ensemble in Barcelona’s Festival MIXTUR and the Canary Islands’ Festival de Música this Autumn.

The first commission, approximately 10 minutes in length, involves an ensemble that includes Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, Percussion, Piano, Violin, Viola, Double Bass, and electronics. This commission comes with a fee of at least £1,750 and an additional £350 travel stipend. The second commission, ranging from 5–7 minutes, is for an acoustic ensemble with a commission fee of at least £1,250 and a £150 travel stipend.

This call is open to any composer not currently represented in Riot Ensemble’s 2024 Season. Applicants are required to submit PDF files of two scores of any instrumentation, alongside links to recordings of these works if available, though recordings are not mandatory. A nominal application fee of £10 is charged, with waivers available upon request to ensure no applicant is prohibited due to the fee.

The deadline for applications is 14 April 2024 (23:59 GMT), with the announcement of commissions on 13th May. Selected composers will need to complete their pieces by mid-September 2024.
