The English Folk Dance & Song Society is launching a bursary scheme to encourage young musicians from diverse backgrounds and socio-economic circumstances to join the London Youth Folk Ensemble (LYFE). This initiative is offering a limited number of places to provide keen musicians, who otherwise couldn’t afford the concessionary fees, the chance to participate. Typically, the bursaries partially reduce the concessionary fee, but full bursaries may be granted under exceptional circumstances.

Nominations are accepted from music leaders, teachers, youth workers, social workers, and community leaders who can verify the young person’s dedication to music. Parent/guardian nominations are not accepted, but they will be contacted for approval if the nominee is provisionally awarded a place. Multiple nominations can be made using separate forms per young person.
