LASSE THORESEN Every Minute Opens Doors
ADEDOTUN ADEKEYE Keynote Address on Migration
BEETHOVEN Irish Folk Song arrangements

This concert, part of our Songs of Travel project, seeks to increase awareness and empathy towards those people who have to leave their native countries due to war, climate change or other issues. The programme includes the world premiere of a new chamber work by Lasse Thoresen for piano trio and voice, which shines a light on the experiences of people in asylum centres around Europe and is the result of a visit by the composer to two such centres in Norway.

We also hear from Galway resident Adedotun Adekeye about his experiences in the direct provision system in Ireland. A selection of Irish folk song arrangements by Beethoven on the theme of travel and homesickness rounds off this varied programme.
