Seán Keane is an Irish singer and musician, known for his distinctive sean-nós style voice. Seán was born in a small village called Caherlistrane, Co. Galway, into a musical family, including his renowned sister, Dolores. Together with Francis Blackand others he was a founder member of the group Arcady. He was voted Performer of the Year by readers of Irish Music Magazine in 97/98 and in 98/99, and was called “the greatest Irish musical find of the `90’s” (London Independent), and “the fastest rising star of the Irish music scene” (Irish Times). His musical voice is unique and his songs encompass a mixture of traditional Irish folk music, pop, blues, and country. Seán has released seven solo albums and collaborated on many others.

 

Seán Keanewill bring his highly successful “Christmas by the Hearth” tour back to the Ionad Cultúrtha on Saturday 13th December @ 8:30. Since his return to full time entertainment, Seán has been very active around Ireland, Europe and the USA. In the last few months Sean has been in Concert in Norway, Spain, England and the USA. His three CD complication album “Never Alone” continues to be very popular with fans at all venues. His last two singles, “Paint me a Picture of Ireland” and “Don’t teach me How to Cry,” continue to get extensive airplay on local radio across the world. Sean will have a new Christmas album out to accompany the tour. The album will contain classics like “Oh Holy Night”, “Silent Night”, “Beautiful star of Bethlehem,”some traditional instrumental pieces and three new Christmas songs. Seán Keane, as well as singing his many hits, will play tin whistle, low whistle, flute and harmonica. Joining Sean on the night will be Pat Coyne on guitar and Stephen Doherty on piano, flute and accordion.

 

This will surely be a concert not to be missed, as he brought down the house on his last visit to the Ionad Cultúrtha, where he enchanted the audience with his own take on popular Christmas songs and carols, as well as his own well-known songs!
