The BBC’s Small Indie Fund allocates £1 million annually to support small independent production companies with turnovers under £10 million. Particularly, it emphasises diverse-led firms and those located in the Nations and English regions. Companies from diverse genres such as factual, entertainment, comedy, children’s, drama, daytime, and now including film are eligible to apply.

The assistance is extended on a per-company basis, relying on the creative potential and alignment with the BBC’s strategy. Successful independent companies will obtain bespoke support packages along with commissioning mentors.

For the current application cycle, the submission deadline is 3 November 2023. Companies, regardless of whether they have previously applied or been accepted, can reapply. The application requires a company leadership questionnaire.
