Show entitled ‘Condemned The Lyricist,’ alternative Indie-folk singer songwriter Con Murphy is bringing his live show back to Whelan’s, Dublin on January 10th 2020 along with his full band, to launch one of his most eagerly awaited releases to date; ‘The Lyricist’. Fresh off the back of a fantastic return to the Electric Picnic Music and Arts Festival 2019 and a support show with The Riptide Movement, this is his second appearance on the Whelan’s stage. You can expect a selection of alt-rock folk, pop and folk ballad sounds pushing the boundaries of carious mixed genres. His debut releases – described by RTÉ Lyric FM’s Marty Whelan as “Gorgeous”, are intertwined by experimental synth-pop and rock tracks which are proving to be favourites among his growing live fan base.

On the more melancholy sounds of the artist, ‘The Fjord’ EP tracks ‘Patiently Wait’, ‘Heavens Table’ and title track ‘The Fjord’ (which was written on a 2015 trip to Iceland and later launched in the same location) is inspired by the stories from the Icelandic eastern fjords about love and wonder. Con wove them together with gentle melodies whilst sitting listening to the sultry tones of Patsy Cline. These songs give you a sense of homely nostalgia as the lyrics paint stories of time passing in relationships, the wonderment of travel and the importance of patience.
