Shane Latimer Quartet (Irl/Sweden)
The Harbour Bar, Sunday, 1st May, 6.30pm
Featuring Thomas Backman

One of Sweden’s most reputable saxophone and clarinet players, Thomas
Backman, reconnects with Irish guitar innovator Shane Latimer and bassist Cormac O’Brien, with whom he toured over a decade ago for this once off Bray Jazz gig.

Shane Latimer is one of Ireland’s great improvisers. He plays six, seven and eight string guitars, and uses synthesizers and electronic processing to explore sound spaces. Shane has played with a variety of Irish and international groups including his own tech-improv combo OKO, intergalctic free-jazz cult Outerspaceways Inc. and arch-minimalists 無我.

Thomas Backman is one of Swedens most reputable reed players and a bandleader in his own right for the past decade.

His debut album “Did You Have a Good Day, David?” (2018) was launched in Scandinavia to widespread critically acclaim. The band followed up the release with concerts at important venues such as Pizza Express in London and Rochester Jazz Festival and Nublu in the US.
