Meredith Monk, renowned composer, singer, and interdisciplinary artist, will be celebrating her 80th birthday throughout 2023 with various performances and new works. Among these is "Indra's Net," an interdisciplinary music theater piece premiering at the Holland Festival in Amsterdam on June 23 and 24. This work completes a trilogy exploring humanity's connection with nature, which also includes "On Behalf of Nature" (2013) and "Cellular Songs" (2018).

To honor Monk's milestone birthday, ECM New Series released "Meredith Monk: The Recordings," a 13-CD box set featuring all of Monk's ECM New Series albums, accompanied by a 300-page book containing additional content such as interviews, photographs, and archival materials.

On May 5, Monk's "MEMORY GAME" will be performed at the Bang on a Can Long Play Festival at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn, New York. The event, hosted by The Town Hall and Pioneer Works, will feature Monk, her Vocal Ensemble, and the Bang on a Can All-Stars. Another performance, "Duet Behavior 2023," with percussionist John Hollenbeck, will take place on July 22 at the West Kortright Centre in upstate New York.

From October 21 to March 17, the Oude Kerk Amsterdam and the Hartwig Art Foundation will co-present the first extensive European exhibition about Meredith Monk, displaying her music, notations, scores, sound recordings, films, and more. Following this, Munich's Haus der Kunst will host "Meredith Monk: Calling" from November 10 to March 3, in collaboration with Oude Kerk Amsterdam and the Hartwig Art Foundation.

Throughout her career, Monk has been celebrated for her pioneering approach to extended vocal technique and has had her work featured in films and major venues worldwide. With numerous accolades to her name, Monk continues to create innovative works and contribute to the world of music and theater.
