Workshop: Padraig Rynne (Concertina) @ Belfast TradFest
Pádraig Rynne is a virtuoso musician, prolific composer and is regarded as one of the finest concertina players in Irish music today. Included in his band work he was a founder of the band Triad with Dónal Lunny and Sylvain Barou, and a member of the Scottish/Irish super group, Atlantic Arc Orchestra. Pádraig works very regularly with other artists, has featured on over thirty albums and has curated a number of high-profile ensembles and tours. He holds an MA in Music Technology and, as a sound designer, Pádraig has lent his music and unique creative soundscapes to many albums and productions. Currently Pádraig performs with Irish instrumental group NOTIFY – a ground-breaking ensemble combining Irish traditional music with jazz elements. Prior to his appointment as Music Generation Development Officer, Pádraig worked as a tutor with Music Generation Clare.
The Winter Weekend’s team of tutors is made up of internationally renowned performers with proven track records as teachers and educationalists. The primary means of teaching and learning will be ‘by ear’ with an emphasis in the less experienced classes of assisting pupils to develop oral/aural skills in addition to instrumental competency and developing core repertoire.
All classes are designed for intermediate to advanced (minimum 2 years instrument experience) adults and children over 6 years of age, with the exception of the Traditional Singing Classes (no experience required) and Whistle & Sing.
