Daniele Di Bonaventura, Band'Union
An instrument most often heard in the brash and intense white heat of Argentinian tango, in the hands of Daniele Di Bonaventura the bandoneon is balm, the silk rather than satin, the love poem, seducing and beguiling. We are thrilled to welcome him and the ensemble Band'Union to Ireland for the very first time. Their most recent album, Garofani Rossi is a passionate and heartfelt collection of songs of resistance and revolution, which started with one elegant but immensly powerful arrangement of the Italian anti-fascist anthem Bella Ciao, and given the gently rebellious nature of this year's GJF, has proved a timely and apposite addition to the line-up.
