Writer in Residence, University College Cork
The Arts Council, in collaboration with University College Cork (UCC), is seeking applications from mid-career and established writers for the position of Writer in Residence for 2024. The chosen writer will be based in the School of English and Digital Humanities programme at UCC.
The residency will support the writer’s own practice from January to August 2024 and facilitate engagement with students and staff from September to December 2024. This engagement could encompass teaching, workshops, mentoring, and public events. The fee for this residency is €30,000, paid in two instalments by the Arts Council.
Eligible applicants must be resident in the Republic of Ireland, have a relevant publishing track record, and not have participated in an Arts Council/university residency in 2023. Applications, consisting of a detailed proposal, artist’s statement, and CV, should be emailed to englishdepartment [at] ucc.ie by 5.30 pm on 9 November. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in early December 2023.
