A rich, young widow. A playboy Count. A highly respectable wife. An amourous Frenchman. A Pontevedrin secretary recounting the tale of young love thwarted (and found again), and a principality on the verge of financial ruin. Set against the glamourous backdrop of 19th century gay Paris! It could only be….. Franz Lehar’s The Merry Widow! Enjoy this “Highlights” version of the operetta, especially created for the lunchtime audience, of the timeless operetta, including all the great songs and duets from it, including Vilja, You’ll find me at Maxim’s, A Highly Respectable Wife, Jogging in a One-Horse Gig, and of course, The Widow Waltz. Starring one of Ireland’s best loved sopranos Sandra Oman as the eponymous Widow, dashing baritone Simon Morgan as Count Danilo Danilovitsch, the beautiful young soprano Maria McGrann as Valencienne and outstanding tenor Richard Shaffrey as Count Camille de Rosillon. Irish acting legend Mary McEvoy (Biddy Glenroe), completes the line-up as Njegus, the Pontevedrin Embassy Secretary, recounting the tale. The multi-talented musician Niall Kinsella musically directs from the piano. Presented by Sheldon Nulty Music, the company that brought you the multiple sell-out shows “Will You Remember? – The love story of MGM legends Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy”, “Waltz of my Heart – The Ivor Novello Songbook”, “Golden Voices of Hollywood” and “More Golden Voices of Hollywood”.
