Internationally renowned pianist and performer Isabelle O'Connell returns to the Hugh Lane Gallery's Sundays@Noon series with a recital programme entitled 'Cocteau', comprised of solo piano works centred around the iconic French artist, writer and film-maker Jean Cocteau. Isabelle O'Connell will perform the Irish premiere of a major new work by composer Rhona Clarke inspired by the work of Cocteau, in particular by some of his drawings and sketches.
Works by the 'Groupe des Six' (comprising Georges Auric, Louis Durey, Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc and Germaine Tailleferre) also feature, along with that of Cocteau's other main collaborators, Erik Satie and Igor Stravinsky.

Since her Carnegie Hall debut recital in 2002, acclaimed pianist Isabelle O'Connell has developed a thriving international career as soloist and chamber musician that has taken her around the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Europe, including Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Chicago Cultural Center, Cleveland Museum of Art, Detroit Art Institute, the Gilmore Keyboard Festival, St David’s Hall, Cardiff and the National Concert Hall, Ireland. She was hailed by The New Yorker as 'the Irish piano phenom' upon the release of her debut solo album RESERVOIR and has since recorded for the Diatribe, Innova, NMC and Lyric fm labels. Isabelle is a member of piano sextet Grand Band, described by the New York Times as 'six of the finest, busiest pianists active in New York's contemporary-classical scene”. She is a core member of the Ireland-based ensemble Evlana. She has also performed with Crash ensemble, Alarm Will Sound, Da Capo Chamber Players and the New Zealand String Quartet.
She currently serves on the piano faculty as Artist-in-Residence at Bard College, New York.
