Glyndebourne is currently seeking a Curator of Exhibitions & Events for a fixed-term maternity cover, starting January 2024 for a minimum of 10 months. This role is integral to Glyndebourne’s 90th-anniversary celebrations in 2024. The successful candidate will lead and deliver the commercial contemporary art programme, which includes artist studio engagement, exhibition installations, client development, sales, and audience development events. The role is based within the Art & Collections department and reports to the Director of Audiences.

Responsibilities include managing the 2024 exhibition programme, featuring a major exhibition by sculptor Conrad Shawcross RA, poster commissions with contemporary artists, and the annual Sussex artists’ exhibition. The curator will project manage these exhibitions, develop and execute commercial sales strategies, and manage a wider programme of talks and special events at Glyndebourne and in London.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a senior curatorial role, strong commercial acumen, and a proven track record in managing complex, multi-stakeholder exhibitions. Familiarity with contemporary art, experience in curating public programmes, and budget management skills are essential.

The role requires working 35 hours per week over 5 days, with additional hours during the Festival period (May-August). Glyndebourne offers a salary of up to £38,000 per annum, depending on experience, and benefits including holidays, a beautiful working environment, and access to world-class opera.
