“Bríd Maloney was a vibrant, life-affirming young documentary film-maker who died in 2012 at the tragically young age of just thirty. A native of County Louth, she was garnering a healthy reputation as a significant producer of traditional music-based programmes. Her 2011 documentary “The Bothy Boy”, on the late Mícheál Ó Domhnaill, was nominated for several awards and is widely accepted as an important chronicle of an influential musician. Access to musicians does not always come easily – a deep trust is needed between the subject and film-maker, and that is only forth-coming to sensitive and caring producers. Her considerable output demonstrates that she had those rare and necessary qualities to have become a great film-maker. Her funeral further under-lined this, with producers and musicians travelling from the four corners of Ireland and beyond”
