
Head of Casting & Chorus
Welsh National Opera (WNO) is recruiting a Head of Casting and Chorus based in Cardiff. The role involves collaboration with the Director of Artistic Administration on all casting facets, managing the Chorus’s planning and operations during rehearsals and performances, and overseeing artistic development strategies. Duties encompass implementing casting committee decisions, monitoring rehearsals, supervising guest artist payments, conducting auditions, and managing key personnel in the casting department.
Candidates should possess profound knowledge of the opera repertoire and familiarity with UK and international artistic professionals. Essential skills include contract negotiation, working with artistic groups, talent development, effective organisational and project management, and budget oversight. Proficiency in Microsoft tools is required. Welsh fluency is preferable, with an understanding of a bilingual work environment. An additional European language is beneficial. The role offers a salary of £40,000 annually, with 25 days of annual leave (increasing to 28 after 5 years), excluding bank and public holidays.
