Fintan McKahey’s new GOD GAMES EP is an eclectic, down tempo, alt-pop production, inspired by the likes of Ben Howard and Chet Faker. The sound has developed from his more folk-based, percussive style debut EP, ‘Two Lifetimes Late’, which was well received in 2016. GOD GAMES, is inspired by both the rugged landscape of his own homeland, and influenced by his travels through Kenya, Thailand and Peru, where Fintan spent time with indigenous cultures exploring alternative belief systems. The lead track ‘God Games’ is a love song, which invites the listener to transcend the mundane, venture forth and imagine other realms. Fintan’s latest single ‘The Rebound Effect’ is a dark, sultry indictment on mankind’s legacy and climate crisis.

Fintan writes, records and produces his own music from his home studio in West Cork; where he is continuing the family legacy, as the son of Stump drummer, Rob McKahey and the nephew of CousteauX singer, Liam McKahey. A multi disciplinary artist, Fintan continues to work as a performer and enjoys collaborating with other artists across the mediums of film, photography and visual arts. He enjoyed supporting The 4 Of Us, Thanks Brother and Leo Stannard on their Irish tour dates at Live at St. Lukes and Whelan’s in Dublin.

‘God Games’ has received radio play on Today FM (Play Irish artist of the week) Corks Redfm (Local Legend on Dave Mac’s Drive) Corks 96fm, BBC Radio Ulster (Across the Line), KCLR (Irish Music Show Song of the Week), WLR, 8Radio, Dublin Radio, Eirewave (Best Irish Indie Playlist) and more.

Fintan has performed live sessions for Newstalk (Moncrieff Show) RTE Radio1(Arena) Corks 96 fm (The Arts Show) either as a solo set or with his full band. In October, Fintan was a showcasing artist at beatvyne’s Music x Tech Experience at The Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

“God Games’ title single is a taste of McKahey’s recently realised penchant for multi-instrumentation. A slow burner featuring percussive acoustic guitar and dreamy, ethereal keys, it’s a sort of midnight love song underpinned by an idealism and introspection…” Ryan O’Neill, Cork Independent.

“ ‘Amicable Ambience’ …The song is aptly named; the mood of the music is very atmospheric and airy; the vibe of the vocals is amiable and cordial…the imagery is superb.” – Marty Lo Faso, Indie Music Plus blog.

” Fintan‘s vocals represent a warm and instantly familiar glow with radiance being a motif that is also replicated in the official video. Much like the track, the video is a lesson in “less is more“… The result is engaging and often hypnotic.” – Cougar Microbes music blog
