The Creative Ageing Writing Bursary, initiated by Age & Opportunity in 2021, seeks to enrich the dialogue and understanding surrounding the arts and ageing sector in Ireland. This €1,000 award supports individuals who wish to explore and reflect on their experiences and insights within this field through essay writing. Applicants may include artists, writers (broadly defined), and arts workers engaged with older audiences or participants. The resulting essay will be featured on both the Age & Opportunity and Bealtaine websites, aiming to serve as a valuable resource and stimulate conversation about the intersection of the arts and ageing.

This bursary is part of a broader effort to document and disseminate knowledge about creative ageing, contributing to a growing repository of information that benefits practitioners and interested parties in the sector. Previous recipients have contributed essays that offer diverse perspectives on working with older populations in artistic contexts.

The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Friday, 22nd March 2024.
