Laughter in The Rain: The Neil Sedaka Story

Sunday, 18 September 2022, 3.00pm

Back by popular demand, following their sell-out shows of ‘The Connie Francis Story’ and ‘Secret Love: The Story of Doris Day’, The Great Singalong Songbook return to The Civic in September.

The brilliant Singalong Songbook team, in their unique way, celebrate the life of Neil Sedaka, American pop singer, pianist, composer and record producer. And what a life story he has!

Described in the Guinness Book of Hit Singles as the man who put the ‘Tra la la la’ into ’60s pop music”, Sedaka exploded onto the music scene in the late 50s/early 60s with a string of hit singles like ‘Calendar Girl’, ‘Breaking Up is Hard To Do’, ‘Happy Birthday Sweet 16’ and ‘Oh! Carol’.

Selling over sold over 70 million records worldwide, he has written or co-written over 500 songs for both himself and musical icons like Sinatra, Abba, Connie Francis, was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, has a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame, and enjoyed renewed TV success in recent years on American Idol.

Sedaka is the man behind epic songs like ‘Solitaire’, ‘Laughter in the Rain’, ‘Breaking up is Hard to Do’, ‘(Is this the Way to) Amarillo’ and ‘Where the Boys are’, so dust off those vocal cords as you will be singing all night!
