Conductor & Musical Director
The Portsmouth Philharmonic Orchestra seeks a new Conductor & Musical Director for spring 2024, following Hugh Carpenter's retirement. Established in 2009, this amateur orchestra performs concerts for charity, raising over £20,000 to date. Rehearsals are held on Sundays from 7-9pm during term time, with three annual concerts in the local area.
Responsibilities include leading rehearsals and concerts, and choosing the repertoire in collaboration with the committee. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to Portsmouth's musical scene and support charitable causes.
Candidates interested in applying should request an information pack via [email protected]. The deadline for applications is 31 December 2023. Shortlisted applicants will conduct at a rehearsal in late January or early February 2024, with the position commencing in April 2024 or as soon as possible.
