Choral Sketches: Call for Composers
Chamber Choir Ireland and the Contemporary Music Centre are calling for applications for Choral Sketches 2024 – a professional development opportunity for composers interested in choral music. Under the mentorship of composer Rhona Clarke, this initiative aims to foster a creative and supportive environment for composers to refine their choral writing skills. Participants will benefit from mentorship, peer learning, and feedback from Chamber Choir Ireland’s singers and conductor.
This programme is open to all composers born or based in Ireland, especially encouraging applications from those of traditionally underrepresented backgrounds. Applicants must submit a proposal, two original scores in PDF format, and mp3 recordings or electronic realisations by 7 March 2024 at 5pm.
Selected composers will engage in one-to-one and group mentoring sessions, leading to a public workshop where their choral ‘sketches’ will be performed. Following feedback, these sketches will be developed into completed pieces for a performance reading. Each participant will receive a €500 stipend from CMC.
