The historic Dartington Music Summer School & Festival celebrates its 75th anniversary with a four-week festival from 22nd July to 19th August 2023. Featuring classical, folk, gospel and jazz music, over 60 concerts will take place in Dartington's Great Hall, accompanied by talks, films, family workshops and outdoor performances in the Gardens.

Classical highlights of the programme include the Dartington Festival Orchestra performing Beethoven's Symphony no.5, Bach's B Minor Mass conducted by John Butt, and award-winning organist Anna Lapwood directing Faure's Requiem. Acclaimed baroque violinist Rachel Podger makes her debut, and violinist Thomas Gould performs music by Max Richter.

Composer-in-residence Isobel Waller-Bridge presents her Oscar-winning score for a family audience, as part of a focus on music and film. International opera stars Mary Bevan and Keri Fuge give recitals, while renowned tenor James Gilchrist performs with Anna Tilbrook. Piano recitals from Ivana Gavric, Tim Horton and Florian Mitrea also feature, with James McVinnie performing Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1.

Chamber music concerts include performances by Magnard Ensemble, Leonore Piano Trio, Fidelio Trio and Waldstein Quartet. Early and baroque music highlights feature Fretwork, I Fagiolini, and Mediva's Dartington debut. Anniversary celebrations spotlight composer Thea Musgrave and a Music & Migration exhibition in partnership with the Royal College of Music.

Jazz pianist Peter Edwards and gospel group Black Voices return to the festival, along with singer-songwriter Ana Silvera and alt-folk duo Crewdson & Cevanne. Folk fans can enjoy Rob Harbron, Miranda Rutter's Bird Tunes Project, a late-night Ceilidh, and Fireside Folk events.

Participatory events include Come & Sing with Black Voices, Come & Play Beethoven's Symphony no.5 with Dartington Festival Orchestra, and Come & Play Brass with Paul Archibald and Brett Baker.
