Christy Mc Namara, Mick O’Brien, Ciara Ní Bhriain, Begley Clan, Steve Cooney @ Masters of Tradition 2023
Esteemed musician Christy McNamara will not only showcase his skills with the concertina and accordion but also present his photographic exhibition at the Marino Church during the festival. The exhibition emphasises portraits of fellow musicians.
The evening’s concert places emphasis on the family tradition inherent in traditional Irish music. Renowned musical families, the O Brien’s and the Begley’s, will be presenting their music. Mick O’Brien, renowned for his proficiency in traditional music, particularly with the uileann pipes, will be accompanied by his daughter Ciara Ní Bhriain, a talented violist and fiddle player.
The concert will also pay homage to the late Seamus Begley, an influential accordionist and singer from west Kerry, who had performed at previous editions of the festival. The Begley family, known for their musical prowess, will conclude the evening’s concert with a tribute to their father’s legacy.
Additional performers include Christy McNamara (Accordion, Concertina), Mick O’Brien (Flute, Uileann Pipes, Whistle), Ciara Ní Bhriain (Fiddle, Harp), the Begley Clan (Accordion, Concertina, Singer), and Steve Cooney (Guitar).
