On Friday, 18th August 2023, at 19:30, Prom 44 will be hosted at the Royal Albert Hall. The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by New Zealand-born conductor Gemma New, marking her debut at the Proms.

The concert’s programme will commence with the European premiere of “Symphony No. 2” by Samy Moussa, co-commissioned by the BBC. This will be followed by Dmitry Shostakovich’s “Piano Concerto No. 2 in F major” with Pavel Kolesnikov as the pianist. After an interval, the orchestra will perform Igor Stravinsky’s “The Firebird”.
