Tonnadh // Fuaim an Toinne by Bríanna Ní Léanacháin

Thursday, 26 January 2023, 6.00pm

Backwater Artists Group is thrilled to present Tonnadh // Fuaim an Toinne, an exhibition of work by Bríanna Ní Léanacháin, running from 26th January (opening night) to 17th February. Bríanna is the recipient of the Backwater Artists Group Ciarán Langford Memorial Bursary 2021.

The exhibition consists of a video-based installation, exploring our changing relationship to the Landscape and inspired by research into Folklore and Ancient Irish History. It aims to address the overwhelming anxiety born from the current Climate Crisis through the lens of Irish Folklore.

It situates itself between history and myth, between prophecy and scientific predictions, between our world and the Otherworld. The work draws primary inspiration from the Tuath Dé Danann, the mythological figure Tonn Clíodhna, and the prophesy of her return.

Join us for the Opening Night of Tonnadh // Fuaim an Toinne on Thursday 26th January at 6pm, in Studio 12, Backwater Artists Group, Wandesford Quay. All Welcome.

Tonnadh // Fuaim an Toinne is open Tues-Fri, 27th January - 17th February, 10am-5pm.
