RTÉ is Ireland’s national public-service media organisation. A leader in Irish media, RTÉ provides comprehensive, cost-effective, free-to-air multi-media services to the public in Ireland and interested audiences internationally.

At its heart, RTÉ is a creative organisation, making and commissioning a broad range of high-quality content to serve multiple platforms and diverse audiences. With that in mind, RTÉ is seeking to recruit a Content Lead to work within its Online team.

We are looking for an experienced and creative individual who inherently understands online content, knows how to interact with online audiences and has great ideas for new formats and new talent. Working as an integral part of the RTÉ Online team the Content Lead will help to manage the team, all productions and all stages of the production lifecycle from pre-production to post-production. We are looking for someone who understands online content, has good ideas on new talent and can ensure all productions are managed on time and on budget, working across the organisation with key editorial, finance and legal stakeholders.

Candidates will be expected to have strong knowledge of RTÉ’s online channels and online content output specifically RTÉ Player Originals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the production lifecycle from pre-production to post-production and release on online platforms
  • Demonstrate strong editorial experience and knowledge of editorial guidelines
  • Manage workload of self and others
  • Direct third-party production companies to ensure productions are delivering to brief and on budget
  • Work with Finance and Legal on contracting of third parties
  • Collaborate and work closely with stakeholders across RTÉ
  • Guide and direct briefs, ideation workshops and other creative projects
  • Pitch ideas to team and wider stakeholders
  • Develop strong relationships with Online product managers and senior stakeholders in ACM
  • Be a team player, deliver feedback in a constructive manner and contribute to a positive and collaborative working atmosphere within the close-knit team
  • Promote out of the box thinking and take risks with new content ideas and talent initiatives.
  • Be interested and passionate about VOD products, online streaming and content

Successful candidates will have the following:

  • A relevant 3rd level qualification or previous relevant work experience
  • A strong and detailed understanding of RTÉ’s online products and content offering
  • Excellent understanding of the production lifecycle
  • Good editorial experience and knowledge of editorial guidelines
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage resources and deadlines
  • Experience managing senior stakeholders
  • A positive and creative outlook
  • A passion for and an understanding of Public Service Broadcasting

This role will be offered on an initial 6-month fixed purpose maternity contract and is on the Multi Media Co-ordinator grade (€43,482 to €56,787)
