Senior Lecturer in Musical Theatre

Senior Lecturer in Musical Theatre

Sunday, 28 November 2021, 5.00pm

The University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Musical Theatre with specific skills in acting and performance for Musical Theatre, and critical/contextual studies related to the academic discipline. The post holder will be expected to undertake programme leadership duties for BA (hons) Musical Theatre upon appointment.

The BA (Hons) Musical Theatre offers an exciting degree with a balance of practice and theory, and a focus on learning through doing. Each semester’s work centres around the rehearsal and performance of a musical theatre production, with appropriate contextual and reflective learning opportunities developing critical, contextual and technique-based skills. Dedicated industry-related opportunities at levels 2 and 3 equip students with experience, know-how, and skills to move into the changing landscape of professional theatre when they graduate, or to pursue alternative pathways as freelance practitioners; in other arts-related areas; in teaching or training provision; or in continuing their studies.

As Senior Lecturer and programme leader for Musical Theatre, you will lead the ongoing development and expansion of the programme, liaising with academic colleagues, students and administrative staff across the school to ensure that the programme runs appropriately and in-line with the University’s expectations for teaching and learning, recruitment, student opportunity, annual monitoring and graduate identity. Your principal contribution to teaching will be on the Musical Theatre programme, and will include the assessment of student work across a range of both practical and theoretical modules. You will provide practical expertise in mounting student productions, and support students in audition, rehearsal and performance environments. You will fulfil the role’s minimum requirements in either research or professional practice, and undertake appropriate administrative duties. You may also be expected (where appropriate) to make a contribution to the school’s wider portfolio of BA and MA programmes.
