La Femme Forte celebrates the chamber music of French Baroque composer Élisabeth-Claude Jacquet de La Guerre (1665–1729). This lunchtime performance features her Sonata no. 1 in D minor for violin & continuo (1707) and two of her vocal works depicting the Biblical heroines Esther and Judith from Cantates françoises sur des sujets tirez de l’Ecriture (1708). This programme is part of an interdisciplinary research and performance project titled Fabulous Females on the Fringe, directed by harpsichordist Yonit Kosovske, who shares the stage on this festival concert in collaboration with Pauline Graham (soprano), Debbie Diamond (Baroque violin), and Sarah Groser (viola da gamba).
