A musical meditation on the relationship of sound to linguistic structures, ‘What is the word’ is an exploration of the work of Samuel Beckett by contemporary composers Benjamin Dwyer, György Kurtág and Barry Guy. The central piece of the programme is a setting of three beautiful texts by Beckett: ‘Neither’, ‘Worstward Ho’ and ‘What is the word’, Beckett’s last poem.
