Óró...
Óró… is a major new work by Ealaín na Gaeltachta, commissioned by Galway 2020, European Capital of Culture featuring 10 Artists from Ireland and across Europe in collaboration in a site-specific space in An Cheathrú Rua, Co Galway. Óró… will premiere on Monday 21 September and will run for 8 performances only.
Produced and directed by Darach Mac Con Iomaire, Óró… features some of the finest contemporary Irish and international artists, including:
Liam Ó Maonlaí - Musician/Composer, Síle Nic Chonaonaigh - Actor, Maitiú Ó Casaide - Musician/Composer, Sibéal Davitt - Contemporary Dancer, Seán Ó Flaithearta - Visual Artist/Designer, Diarmuid de Faoite - Actor, Amaia Elizaran - Basque Contemporary Dancer, Anne Feddema - Frisian Painter/Poet, Josie Duncan - Scottish Singer & Taran Spalding-Jenkin - Cornish Poet /Performer.
Óró… tells a compelling story of language, survival and identity told through contemporary dance, music, poetry, theatre and visual art.
Óró… interrogates the importance of cultural diversity and the power of collaboration as these wonderful artists combine their talent and experience to create a work that resonates powerfully, personally and universally.
Óró… will be performed for a limited run in Gailearaí an Tismeáin, a large factory turned theatre in An Cheathrú Rua in the Connemara Gaeltacht culminating on the European day of languages – 26 September. The scale of the performance space enables us to adhere comfortably to social distancing guidelines.
