The Faculty of Music at the University of Cambridge is offering a temporary position as Assistant Professor in Western Art Music History, focusing on the 19th and/or 20th centuries, from 1 September 2024 until 31 August 2027. This role is to provide cover for a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship, contingent upon the continuation of grant funding.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Music or a related discipline and demonstrate a strong potential for outstanding research within the specified periods. The appointee will contribute to the Faculty’s academic community, teaching at both undergraduate and master’s levels, and engaging in administrative duties such as committee participation, examination boards, and outreach activities.

The Faculty of Music, a leading global centre for music study and research, encompasses a wide range of specialisms and boasts excellent facilities, including a professional concert hall, a music library, historical instruments, and a Javanese gamelan.

Applicants are required to submit a cover letter, CV with a list of publications and teaching competencies, a statement of research interests (up to 500 words), a sample of recent work (10,000-15,000 words), and contact details for three referees.
