Cork Opera House, Southern Ireland’s premier performing arts facility, has been part of the cultural fabric of Cork city for 165 years. With a busy programme of entertainment featuring local, national and international artists, the company stages approximately 300 shows per year attracting over 220,000 patrons. Cork Opera House is looking for a suitable candidate to join its Senior Management Team as Head of Operations.

Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Operations will lead and motivate the operational teams, namely the Box Office, Bar, Facilities, Front of House & Technical departments, to deliver outstanding levels of service to patrons and stakeholders. The role involves ensuring each area delivers a consistently high standard of customer service while driving revenue and maintaining effective cost controls in achieving the business objectives of Cork Opera House. In carrying out duties, the Head of Operations will be required to maximise the profitability of the company while maintaining effective cost controls in all areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Review & support the delivery of the organisation’s strategic objectives & any other duties as assigned by the CEO;
Deliver key financial indicators across all operational departments;
Oversee the management of all operations departments;
Maximise operational efficiencies & identify new opportunities for increased revenue;
Provide inspired leadership to direct reports;
Deliver an outstanding standard of customer service to Cork Opera House customers;
Oversee the delivery of effective resource management & ensuring adequate workforce deployment.

Required Knowledge, Experience & Skills
Successful candidates will have a relevant Third Level Qualification;
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management or leadership position;
Proven track record of people management;
Proven track record of managing revenue generating activity;
Experience in customer service management;
IT Proficient with a strong knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Desired Behavioural Competencies
Competent in preparing business strategies and implementing action plans;
High numeracy skills; experience of financial management;
Hands-on leadership with excellent people management skills;
Strong negotiation skills.
