Philadelphia Folk Festival 2020 – Open Call for Participation

Philadelphia Folk Festival 2020 – Open Call for Participation

Friday, 3 July 2020, 11.00pm

This year, Culture Ireland is working in partnership with the Philadelphia Folk Festival (13 – 16 August 2020) to promote Irish artists as part of the Festival’s 2020 digital edition.

The Philadelphia Folk Festival is North America’s oldest continuously run outdoor music festival and this will be the first time it will take place online. This affords a key opportunity to reach a global audience as well as international presenters. The Festival has regularly hosted Irish artists over recent years.

Applications are now open for Irish artists who wish to take part. Artists will present a pre-recorded performance which will be broadcast online as part of the Festival’s Programme on a dedicated Culture Ireland stage.

Applications are open to any professional music artist (solo, ensembles or groups). Priority will be given to artists who have lost international touring or showcase opportunities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The recording/streaming costs will be covered and artists will receive a fee of €1,000 for their performance.

If you wish to be considered for inclusion as part of this showcase opportunity, please send
- an up-to-date biography/CV of the group/artist
- outline any impacts of COVID-19 restrictions on your international touring plans.
- links to any online resources (website/music tracks/videos).

Selection will be made by the Festival in consultation with Culture Ireland.
Applications should be made by email only to: showcases [at] cultureIreland.gov.ie before Friday 3rd July at midnight.
