The Musicians Union is hiring a National Organiser.

As National Organiser, you will have overall responsibility for the Education Department and Section. You will lead a small team in the recruitment and retention of Education Section members as well as provide support to the MU’s regional teams on all education, health & wellbeing issues; providing up-to-date advice and guidance as necessary and ensuring consistency of support and advice.

You will develop and implement MU policy on all education matters, keeping updated on national and local political legislative educational issues. You will also be responsible for the MU’s policy on health & wellbeing.

Reporting to the Secretariat and the Executive Committee, and other departments where necessary, you will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

You will have significant experience of effectively managing teams with high workloads to meet deadlines and financial targets, producing high quality work within agreed budgets. A broad appreciation of the overall aims and objectives of the trade union movement is also crucial.
